I was selected to participate in the 15th annual Virginia Festival of the Book. The festival, which draws over 20,000 visitors a year to events featuring over a hundred authors, is the largest book festival in the Mid-Atlantic and is regularly covered by C-SPAN. I took part in a panel on sports books with two other authors. Details here.

- Guest lecturer at Whittier College (Whittier, CA) class on religion and sport (my book was assigned reading for the class) -- January 2010
- Guest lecturer on grant-writing at Mary Baldwin College (Staunton, VA), MFA-level class on careers in theatre (2008)
- Served on grant judging committee for Valley Arts Commission, evaluating grant applications and disbursing the commission’s granting budget to Harrisonburg, VA-area non-profit arts organizations (2006)
